About Emergency Preparedness
It’s not easy to think about manmade or natural disasters which could affect you or your family. But your best defense against any hazard is pre-planning and making realistic decisions about what you might have to do. Always apply common sense to any emergency plan.

About CAPHN
The Capital Area Public Health Network (CAPHN) is a community health and safety collaborative established in 2004 to identify and solve community health problems and improves local public health emergency preparedness. The CAPHN is based at Concord Hospital and is comprised of coalition community members, as well as organizations, involved in providing for the public's health and safety.

About Network Efforts
Since its inception, the community representatives who comprise the CAPHN network have identified actions, procedures and initiatives that will undertaken to advise community members about an impending emergency or pandemic. Your city or town elected officials and emergency responders know about CAPHN and the role CAPHN will play to protect citizens in and around the capital area.

So take a few minutes to look around this website. There are a number of informational items, and more will be added, that are intended to help individuals and families prepare for an emergency. There are also a number of resources that should benefit parents in preparing children for emergencies. Check these out.

Health information access is a basic healthcare need. Literacy, health-literacy, illness, aging, disability and language are all issues that can pose barriers to obtaining basic health information. You can find free health education materials in various languages and in a variety of formats. Check it out!
